We're In Boulder, Colorado

It's been a while since my last post. We've been heads down building and working with pilot customers, which is the kind of quiet I'll take over a press release any day.

Here's the big news: PATROL6 was selected for the Techstars accelerator in Boulder, Colorado. Nine companies out of more than 1,500 applications.

Techstars was just named No. 1 on TIME and Statista's list of America's Best Incubators and Accelerators for 2026. What makes that ranking worth repeating is how it was built - 85% of the score came from surveys of founders who actually went through the program. Not from a panel, and not from Techstars' own marketing. From the people who sat in those chairs (BTW this is my third time through Techstars - twice with Sphero).

I've started a lot of companies. Applying to an accelerator may be a surprise to people that know me, but I know what you gain by putting your company through the crucible that is Techstars. You gain a room full of incredibly talented and diverse operators building tech companies using the latest tools and AI models to transform their respective industries. That's what Boulder is for - to collaborate and learn from each other. Starting companies is hard and it is even harder when the world is trying to understand how to use AI for good to improve our businesses and our lives. We'll use this time to push our product further, expand our deployed customers, and spend real hours with mentors who can guide and challenge us to think bigger and do more.

The thing we're actually trying to fix

There are roughly 28 million professionals in this country who spend up to 20% of their day writing down what they just did. Security officers, property managers, technicians, inspectors, retail associates, first responders. People whose work happens on their feet, in a building, out on a property, interacting with others, and then gets re-entered into a form at the end of a shift, from memory, in a hurry.

That paperwork isn't the job. It's the tax on the job.

We want to eliminate it. Our purpose-built AI bodycams and apps observe the work as it happens and complete the report automatically. Instantly, with more detail and better accuracy than anyone reconstructing a twelve-hour shift at the end of it could manage. The officer or manager or associate gets to focus on the part of the work they actually signed up for. The employer gets a team that accomplishes more in the same hours, with a better record of what happened.

How we got in: early traction and more focus

We've found real momentum in a specific place - large commercial and retail properties. Malls, outdoor entertainment districts, venues. These locations see enormous foot traffic, and the range of things that need to be tracked runs from a burned-out light and a cracked sidewalk all the way up to serious violations of the law. Multiple teams working in the same location.

What we realized is that these venues aren't really buildings. They're communities. Patrons, tenants, property managers, and security professionals, all sharing the same few acres with different jobs and almost no shared way to talk to each other. When they can communicate and share information, everyone has a safer and more enjoyable workplace.

It all starts with safety and security. That's the foundation, and it's why the security team has to be the best-equipped group on the property. They get our AI bodycams. Managers get the ability to see an issue and turn it straight into a work order with our new (nearing general release) Report6.ai platform, so problems get fixed instead of forgotten. Tenants get a way to report what they're seeing from inside their own four walls using our sleek badgecam - a shoplifter working the corridor, someone behaving badly near the entrance, or a medical emergency where thirty seconds matters.

Same property, same information, three different jobs. Nobody waiting on a phone call or an email chain.

It turns out there are a lot of places like this, and the response from property owners and managers has been the clearest signal we've had. They aren't looking for another dashboard. They want field technology that helps the people who make these places safe and worth visiting that is responsive at the moment it matters most and precisely documented for the record later.

So: Boulder. More customers, a sharper product, and a lot to learn from people who have done this before us. More to come...
